On July 6, Catholic Charities discovered that one of its offices, located at 6671 southwest Freeway, Houston Texas, had been burglarized and twenty-two (22) laptop computers had been stolen from within the office. Catholic Charities immediately reported this incident to the Houston police Department, and continues to work with the department in the active investigation of this matter. Cahtolic Charities also worked with its property manager to immediately increase physical security safeguards for the office location. one of the (22) laptops stolen was used by Catholic Charities to outgrowth fingerprint screening info for individuals applying to sponsor an unaccompanied child, on behalf of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Office of Refugee resettlement (ORR). Stored on this laptop computer were documents containing personal information relating to individuals. ACF/OCR decided to provide note of the theft of that device to (71) individuals whose personally identifiable info was found to be locally stored on the device at the time it was stolen, and such mark was provided on october 2, 2015.
