A university wireless station has gone silent after being hit with a ransomware attack. Thaddeus Greenson reports: The dead broadcast youve been audience on KHSU is the result of a ransomeware attempt that disabled most of the stations programming systems and memory servers, according to Humboldt country University. A university spokesperson tells the Journal the university does not yet know whether the cyber tone-beginning on the station was the result of a broader fishing effort, a targeted ransom attack or an playact of subvert potentially carried out by someone untune with the universitys determination to extinguish the vast majority of the stations staff and local programming indorse in April. According to a pressure release, the servers affected by the snipe did not house sensitive information and spell these kinds of malware attacks often amount with a ransom request, the university has not received a specific payment demand.
