The console was moved to a temporary storage readiness while the Student Records management office prepared to run to a new placement in the same building. The cabinet should not have been left unattended; it contained social security numbers for students who registered for the fall quarter of 2010 at any COTC campus. The incident occurred on march 10 and notifications were sent to students on april 14.
